General Dentistry FAQ
Q: DOES MY INSURANCE COVER MY FAMILY AND ME?
A: Smile Time Dental takes most dental insurances. However, each dental insurance and their coverage is unique. Smile Time will gladly contact your insurance to see if they will assist in the payment of your dental care. Please give us a call at our dental office in Granite Bay and we would be happy to determine your insurance coverage and financial options.
Q: I DON’T HAVE INSURANCE, HOW CAN I GET DENTAL CARE?
A:We understand that not everyone has dental insurance, but that shouldn’t keep you from getting the help you need. We want to make dental care financially comfortable, so that expense doesn’t hold you back from having a healthy smile. Our dental offices have the following payment options: cash, checks and most credit cards, as well as third-party financing through Care Credit. We also offer prepayment courtesy (savings) for proposed dental treatment plans. Please give us a call at our Granite Bay dental office and we would be happy to setup a dental consultation to discuss financial options for you and your family.
Q: HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY FAMILY AND I VISIT THE DENTIST?
A: While bi-annual exams and cleanings are what is generally expected, the American Dental Association (ADA) reminds patients that the frequency of a person’s dental care should be determined by their dentist, based on their dental health and need. Bi-annual exams help to monitor changes in dental health, while cleanings keep gums and teeth healthy by removing any excess tartar or plaque build-up.
Q: WHAT CAUSES CAVITIES?
A: Teeth are covered in a hard enamel layer and when that layer is damaged or weakened, small openings or holes can develop. Cavities, or tooth decay, develop inside these small openings, growing larger if not addressed. If cavities are not prevented or maintained, teeth structure can be compromised, creating health risks, pain or even loss of teeth.
Q: DO I REALLY NEED DENTAL X-RAYS?
A: Dental x-rays are used to look beyond the outer layer of your tooth, to help diagnose dental decay or trauma that may not be visible by just looking at the tooth. Your dentist will determine the frequency of dental x-rays, as it depends on a person’s current dental and medical health. Some patients require x-rays every visit, while others may only need dental x-rays once a year.
