Dental Implants

Oftentimes people are faced with circumstances that result in dealing with tooth loss. Whether a tooth has been knocked loose from an accident or whether it’s slowly starting to fall out due to some sort of trauma or tooth decay, losing a tooth can happen to anyone. While continuing a regular oral hygiene routine will help keep your mouth healthy, it’s always a good idea to be prepared with a dentist that can replace a tooth in case of an emergency. At Smile Time Dental, our dentists are thoroughly trained on providing dental implants and are equipped with the proper tools to make your experience comfortable.

If you have a damaged tooth that needs to be removed or replaced, our team is ready to assess the area and come up with a treatment plan immediately. For questions or information about dental implant services give our Folsom office a call and we will be glad to help.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants may sound scary, but they are completely safe when implemented properly by a dental professional. These titanium posts are surgically planted in the lower jawbone or upper jawbone, and serve as an anchor for the replacement tooth. The replacement tooth is custom fabricated to mimic the natural appearance of a tooth. This ensures that the dental implants seamlessly blend with the rest of your teeth, ceasing any self-conscious thoughts you may have been feeling. Along with cosmetic benefits, dental implants make chewing easier and keep your teeth and gums aligned.

Dental Implant Procedure

Providing dental implants is a standard procedure that our Smile Time team often performs. A highly trained and certified oral surgeon will surgically implant a metal anchor into the jawbone to take the place of the missing roots. Once implanted the anchor will fuse with the jaw bone, which is called osseointegration. The procedure to integrate your jawbone can take a couple of months, but after the anchor is securely connected to your jaw, it will be capable of withstanding a lot of force. During the fusing time we can install a temporary crown which will be customized by shape, size, fit, and color to blend in with your natural teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Multiple factors come into the pricing of dental implants. Insurance does cover portions of dental implants but pricing can vary depending on your coverage. We are happy to do a benefits check and give you a range of pricing for your procedure.

You should never feel any pain during dental implant surgery since the mouth is numbed with a local anesthetic. Prescribed or over the counter pain medication will help after the procedure as the numbing fades away.

Implants are created with strong and durable material that are designed to last for a lifetime. The false tooth may break eventually, but can be easily replaced.

Before we start the procedure for a dental implant, we need to perform an exam that would consider you a candidate for dental implants.

Proper brushing, flossing, and regular teeth cleanings are required for long-term health.
